FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University men’s tennis freshman standout Warren Bryan/Greensboro, N.C. has been named the Longwood Male
ARMS Software Athlete of the Week. Bryan defeated Liberty’s Stan Vaughan 7-6, 7-6 at the No. 4 position to earn one of two points for the Lancers in a 5-2 setback on March 27. In 2014, Bryan leads the squad with a 6-9 overall record in singles action, including a 3-3 mark in Big South matches.
Question and Answer Session with Warren Bryan and Travis LylesTL: What does winning Athlete of the Week mean to you?WB: I feel honored. There are a lot of great athletes at Longwood. Getting picked as Athlete of the Week means a lot.
TL: What is it like to make such a big impact as a freshman?WB: It feels good. You never know what to expect when you first come in, but once you get going and have success, it feels great.
TL: What was your main goal coming into the season?WB: My main goal was to get acclimated and build a foundation be successful for years to come.
TL: What is your favorite part about playing Division I tennis?WB: The team aspect in college tennis is amazing. I have really enjoyed getting close to the guys on the team.
TL: If you could play another sport at Longwood, what would it be?WB: Probably basketball. People go crazy for them, and they get recognized all over campus.
TL: Who is your favorite professional tennis player?WB: Definitely Juan Martín Del Potro. I love to watch him play because he is so dynamic and explosive.
TL: Who is your favorite Longwood athlete?WB: Tristan Carey because he is really good at what he does. He is also very humble, which is pretty cool.
TL: What has been your favorite moment so far from your freshman year?WB: All of our home matches are my favorite moments. Seeing everyone come out and support us is really awesome.
TL: Who is your favorite musician or band?WB: My brother actually. He likes to make music and I try to support him in all the things he does.
TL: What do you do in your free time?WB: In my free time I really enjoy reading, spending time with friends and taking time to enjoy life.
