Question and Answer Session with Leron Fisher and Ashley Robbins
AR: Talk about the season so far and stepping into a big role as a transfer?
LF: We’ve been working hard as a team. A couple games haven’t gone our way, but we’ve competed in every game. I think this season is going pretty well, and I think we’re really going to turn it on and shock a lot of teams comes conference play.
AR: What drew you to Longwood?
LF: Basically the atmosphere. When I came here for my visit, the team made me feel like I was at home. I just believed in Coach Gee. We had a great conversation when he was recruiting me. I also just wanted to be closer to home, so my mom could see me play.
AR: What do you think is the best thing about the Longwood program?
LF: How hard we work and how hard we play. We try to play with a lot of energy and toughness. We focus on our defense.
AR: What is the team’s mindset heading into conference play?
LF: We’re trying to win. We were picked last, so that’s kind of put a chip on our shoulders. We’re just trying to win our conference games.
AR: Who is your biggest role model?
LF: I would say my mom because she’s such a strong parent and she raised me so well. She’s my biggest critic, too. She’s not afraid to tell me when I have a good game or when I have a bad game.
AR: Do you have any pregame superstitions or rituals?
LF: I always have to put my left shoe on before my right shoe. If I put my right shoe on first, I feel like I’ll have a bad game. Then I just listen to music and really try and get focused.
AR: Who are your funniest teammates?
LF: Jeylani Dublin and Eric Shaw. They always keep us laughing, even if it’s a 6 a.m. practice.
AR: Who is your most motivating teammate?
LF: Karl Ziegler because he’s always on the court talking, trying to motivate us to get energy. I feed off of him. When I’m down, he brings me up.
AR: What’s one of the best pieces of advice you’ve gotten in your career?
LF: Just keep focused and keep going hard. Great results come when you work hard.
AR: Favorite meal?
LF: Pizza. I eat pizza in D-Hall every day.
AR: Favorite artist?
LF: Jay-Z
