FARMVILLE, Va. — Four Longwood men's tennis players have been named to the 2025-26 Academic All-District® NCAA Division I Team as selected by the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday.
Sophomore Daniel Lopez and seniors Rufus Plane, Timéo Puech and Alejandro Uribe each earned the honor.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale and appear in at 75 percent of their team's dual matches.
Since 1952, the award has recognized the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's and women's tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Lopez, a 3.813 GPA student in business administration from Palma de Mallorca, Spain, was named to the All-Big South Second Team in doubles in his first season at Longwood. Lopez finished the season 20-8 in singles in 2025-26, including a 9-6 mark in dual action.
Teaming primarily with Uribe in doubles, Lopez was 23-10 overall and 15-6 in the spring. Lopez was also named the Big South All-Academic Team.
Plane, a 3.79 GPA student in business administration from Cardiff, Wales, was 18-12 on the season in singles with a 10-8 mark in the spring. He was 9-14 in doubles, including 5-5 at No. 3.
Puech, a 3.624 student in business administration from Maisons-Alfort, France, earned Big South Player of the Year and the league's individual singles champion. Also Big South Preseason Player of the Year, he went 22-6 in singles across all competitions this season, including a 10-3 mark at No. 1 this spring. Puech won his last eight singles matches overall while also playing to a 16-15 mark at No. 1 doubles, primarily with partner Daniel Borisov. The pair became the first in Longwood history to earn a national ranking on Feb. 4, coming in at No. 61, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Uribe, a 3.607 student in business administration from Medellín, Colombia, was named to the All-Big South Second Team in both singles and doubles in 2025-26. He was the only Longwood player to earn victories in all three conference dual matches in singles this season.
Uribe, who was named Big South Player of the Week on Feb. 25, finished the season 25-9 overall in singles with a 13-6 mark in dual matches. He was 10-4 at No. 6. In doubles, Uribe 23-9 overall with a 12-5 record at No. 3.
Both Puech and Uribe also earned CSC All-District honors last season as juniors.
Longwood finished the season 13-7 overall after advancing to its first Big South championship match. The Lancers appeared in the postseason for the first time iat Division I as well, earning an invitation to the UTR Sports NIT Championship before falling in the semifinals.
