FARMVILLE, Va. – Matthew Hartley closed out the Giles-Spratley Collegiate with his one of his best rounds of the season, and he helped Longwood move up into the top 10 of a deep field earlier in the week.

Today, the Big South Conference office announced he was the Big South Freshman of the Week for a second time this season.

Hartley fired a 78-73-69—220 (+4) over his three rounds, and he climbed into a tie for 45
th. His final-round 69 helped Longwood climb from 13
th to sole possession of eighth in a field of 14 teams that featured five ranked in the top 100 nationally.

In his final round, his 69 saw him card four birdies and 13 pars in an incredibly consistent round. He added an eagle in round two, and he finished with eight birdies in his three rounds.

For Hartley, it is his second weekly award of the season, and six Lancers have earned either Big South Golfer of the Week of Freshman of the Week honors.

Longwood plays its final round of the regular season at the Wofford Invitational, which begins on Sunday, April 12, before heading to the Big South Championship for stroke play that starts on Sunday, April 26.
