Swidzinski Leads Postseason Awards Haul for Lancer Men's Golf

Sophomore Earns First Team, Scholar-Athlete Honors as Lafreniere, Hardison, Mainella Earn All-Conference Accolades

FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood men's golf had four players earn All-Big South Conference honors, as the league office released its postseason honorees today.

Hunter Swidzinski was voted as the Big South Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year while also garnering All-Big South First Team and Academic Team honors. David Lafreniere was selected to the All-Big South Second Team, and Cameron Hardison picked up All-Big South Honorable Mention. Gabriel Mainella represented the Lancers on the Big South All-Freshman team.

Swidzinski was Longwood's scoring leader by mere fractions of a point throughout the regular season. He carded a 71.7 scoring average through the season, and he was a regular in the top 20 with six finishes there in 10 tournaments.

In addition, he medaled at The Savannah Intercollegiate in February, one of three medalists on the season for the Lancers. He tied for the team's lowest round of the season with a six-under 65 at the Joe Feaganes Invitational in the fall.

Swidzinski, a sophomore, is also an ace in the classroom, and he became the first player in team history to earn Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Lafreniere, meanwhile, was right behind Swidzinski with a 71.9 scoring average. He carded three top 10 finishes this season, with one landing in the top five. He tied for fourth at the Surf Club Invitational in March with his best rounds of the season, a 68-65-70—203 (-10) that also served as one of the lowest rounds in team history.

Hardison was right there with both Lafreniere and Swidzinski with a 71.89 scoring average, and he was incredibly consistent throughout tournaments this season. He finished in the top 25 in six times. He tied for 12th at the Joe Feaganes Invitational in September and also tied for 14th at the Surf Club Invitational in March.

Mainella, meanwhile, posted a scoring average of 73.28 and helped lead Longwood to the win at the Colonel Classic in the fall. The freshman broke the team's tournament scoring record by breaking 200 with a scintillating 66-65-65—196 (-14) to win the tournament.

The season is complete for Longwood, and the Lancers will resume play in the fall for the 2026-27 season.
