FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood men's golf tied for third behind a strong team performance to open the spring, and the team had a pair of golfers earn Big South Conference weekly honors, the league office announced today.

Hunter Swidzinski was named the Big South Men's Golfer of the Week, and
Matthew Hartley was tabbed as the Big South Freshman of the Week.

Swidzinski co-medaled for the first time as a Lancer after battling wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour at The Savannah Intercollegiate over the weekend. In addition to being his first top 10 finish of the season, it was the first time he has tied for first in his Lancer career.

He was incredibly consistent with a 71-72-72—215 (-1), with his final round at even par the third-best round of the third round in the field. He had nine birdies in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Hartley carded his first top 20 finish as a Lancer when he tied for 17
th. He also recorded nine birdies en route to a 75-72-76—223 (+7) over the weekend.

Hartley is the first freshman to earn Big South Freshman of the Week honors this season, and he is the second freshman on the team to earn a weekly award after
Gabriel Mainella was the Big South Golfer of the Week in the fall.

The Lancers are back in action when they head to the Surf Club Invitational at The Surf Golf and Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on March 9-10.
