FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood's pitchers Brady Hoover and Jackson Nash earned the first Big South honors of the season for the Lancers, the Big South Conference office announced today.
Junior Nash was named the Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week, while Hoover, a freshman earned Big South Freshman of the Week honors.
In his Longwood (3-0) debut, Nash was dominant in four relief innings of high-pressure baseball. He struck out nine in four scoreless innings, with all four innings in extra innings in a 15-inning win against NJIT. In the 15th inning, he wiggled out of a bases-loaded jam to earn the win after Longwood walked off the Highlanders in the bottom half of the frame.
Hoover impressed in his college debut, striking out six in six scoreless innings to help Longwood improve to 3-0 and close out the series with a sweep. The freshman faced the minimum in two innings and allowed just four hits without giving up a walk.
The Lancers travel for their first away game of the 2026 season for a mid-week game on Feb. 18th at consensus top 10-ranked North Carolina. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
