Lancer Baseball Opens Season Against NJIT

Longwood Hosts the Highlanders for Four Game Series

The First Pitch:
•   Longwood starts the season at home at the Buddy Bolding Stadium for it's first series.
•   The Lancers play against NJIT, after last meeting them in 2020 where Longwood won the second game of the series.
•    It is the team's first home game since a three-game sweep against Radford to close the 2025 season.
•   Longwood takes on an NJIT team that finished second overall in the America East last season and were picked to finish third in 2026.

 
Coming Into 2026
•    Longwood swept Radford 4-2 at home to end the 2025 season.
•    The Lancers went 5-4, 15-8 and 4-2 against Radford to finish both Big South and regular season play.
•   The Lancers started and finished conference play last season with a sweep of UNC Asheville and Radford.
•   Tre Keels led the Big South in stolen bases (35) and ranked 22nd in the nation.

 
Around The Bases:
•   Longwood returns home to host NJIT to start the season after ending the year at Buddy Bolding Stadium against Radford in 2025.
•    The Lancers led the Big South in stolen bases last season (116), and ranked 10th  in the nation, and the team was seventh in stolen bases per game.
•   Longwood also led the conference in sacrifice hits
•   Longwood opened and closed Big South play with series sweeps, starting off with UNC Asheville in March and Radford in May.
•   Tre Keels lead the Big South on the whole with 35 stolen bases.
•   Longwood won four of its final seven games, building late-season momentum heading into 2026.

•   NJIT took the series last season on the road, winning the first and third games of the series.
•   Longwood won the middle game 11-7 after the Highlanders took the opener 13-0. A total of four runs decided the three games.
•   In the series finale, NJIT won 17-5, where juniors Julio Marcano and Paul Franzoni combined to drive for the Highlanders' first six runs.
