FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood basketball senior
Trey Hicks was named to the Big South All-Academic Team as part of the postseason awards, the conference office announced today.
Hicks, who is in his fourth year at Longwood, has been a regular on the Dean's List while a student at Longwood, and this season, he has been an important contributor on the court.
After battling injuries in his first three years, the senior has played in 25 games this season, and he has averaged 3.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per game while also getting work done in the classroom.
He graduated early with his bachelor's in business administration and began working on his MBA with a concentration in real estate during the year. In addition, he has been a Dean's List selection five times.
On the court, he has put together some of his finest performances down the stretch for the team. He matched a then-career high with 10 points and five boards against Gardner-Webb in a thrilling Lancer win on February 19. He also had a career best three blocks in the game.
In the season finale, he scored a career best 12 points while matching his career high of five rebounds.
He has scored in double figures three times this season and is shooting 58.3 percent from the floor and 84.8 percent from the foul line.
The Lancers dive into the 2025 Hercules Tires Big South Tournament as the number six seed. They will take on Winthrop, the third seed, on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. in Johnson City, Tennessee. The game will air on ESPN+.
