FARMVILLE, Va. – Elijah Tucker dominated on the interior for Longwood men's basketball, and he was named the Big South Player of the Week today, the conference office announced.
Tucker put up back-to-back 21-point games during the week while helping lead Longwood to back-to-back home wins, and he had 19 rebounds combined in two games. In addition, he shot better than 78 percent (18-23) from th efloor in the two games.
First, he piled up 21 points and 10 rebounds in a blowing win over Gardner-Webb on Wednesday night. He went 10-12 from the floor while garnering his third straight double-double. He added two assists, two blocks and a steal.
On Saturday, he again led the Lancers with 21 points while finishing one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards. He had three steals, which tied a career high, including the steal that helped seal the game in the overtime win over Charleston Southern.
For the season, Tucker is averaging 12.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, and he is shooting better than 63 percent from the floor.
He is the first Lancer to earn Big South Player of the Week honors this season.
Longwood is back in action on Thursday, January 29 when the team heads to USC Upstate. The game will air on ESPN+ at 7 p.m.
