THE OPENING TIP
•    Longwood travels to High Point on Thursday for a matchup on ESPNU for the Big South Wildcard matchup.
•    It marks the second time the Lancers are on ESPNU this season, with both matchups coming against High Point, the Big South preseason favorite.
•    Longwood won the first meeting between the two teams in thrilling fashion when Colby Garland sank a mid-range floater with 2.5 seconds to play in an 82-80 win.
•    The Lancers are 5-3 in games decided by five points or less.
•    Following the game at High Point, Longwood closes the year with three of its final five games at home.
•    Longwood plays a High Point side that leads the Big South in scoring at 87 points per game in Big South play.
 
LAST TIME OUT
•    Longwood fell 71-69 in a thriller against Radford on Saturday in a game that saw both teams trade huge buckets and stops down the stretch.
•    Radford led for a majority of the first half, but Longwood roared back with a strong start to the second half in front of a sold-out crowd.
•    Colby Garland paced Longwood with 23 points, and he hit a game-tying shot with eight seconds to go that knotted the score at 69 all.
•    However, Radford's Truth Harris raced up the floor and found Brandon Maclin for the go-ahead 17-footer with 2.8 seconds to play.
•    Maclin led four Highlanders in double figures by totaling 15 points.
•    Longwood, meanwhile, had the guard trio of Garland, Angelo Brizzi (13 points) and Kyrell Luc (12 points) lead the way in scoring.

•    In games decided by five points or less, Longwood is 37-27 (.578 winning percentage) under head coach Griff Aldrich.
•    This season, the team is 5-3, and six of those games have been in Big South play, including their past three games.
•    The best run came in 2021-22, when the Lancers went 7-1 in games decided by five points or less, and the team has only had one season below .500 in games decided by five points or less (2020-21).

•    Michael Christmas has spearheaded the movement from downtown, leading the league at 43.5 percent from three in 10 Big South games (30-69).
