THE OPENING TIP
•    Longwood opens a four-game road swing with a trip to New York to take on Columbia.
•    Following the matchup at Columbia, Longwood heads to the Capital Thanksgiving Classic next week.
•    The Lancers have scored at least 80 points four times in five games this season.
•    Longwood went to double overtime against Maryland Eastern Shore, the first time the team has played a double overtime game since going to double overtime against Delaware State in 2023-24.
•    The Lancers have had five players score in double figures in a game in three straight contests.
•    Jacoi Hutchinson has been in double figures in all five games for Longwood this season and is the only Lancer to do so.
•    Elijah Tucker was a Preseason All-Big South First Team selection.
 
LAST TIME OUT
•    Longwood fell 83-82 in double overtime to Maryland Eastern Shore at the Joan Perry Brock Center on Tuesday.
•    Jacoi Hutchinson had a career high 21 points on a career-best 10-10 performance at the free throw line to help Longwood rally back in both regulation and the first overtime.
•    He was one of five Lancers in double figures, with Johan Nziemi (17 points), Elijah Tucker (12 points), Alphonzo Billups III (10 points) and Elijah Jones (10 points) all finishing in double digits.
•    Justin Monden led UMES with 19 points, and Jaden Cooper chipped in 17.
•    Longwood erased a 15-point UMES lead in the middle of the first half and took a three-point lead after halftime, but the two sides were even down the stretch.
•    Ultimately, UMES's Dorion Staples hit a three in double OT that was the difference.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
•    Longwood lives at the free throw line, averaging better than 30 free throws per contest.
•    The team's 32 free throw attempts per game rank 13th nationally and first in the Big South.
•    In addition, the Lancers are making better than 80 percent of those foul shots, good for 18th nationally in percentage (.806) and fifth in made free throws per game (25.8).
•    That has helped the Lancers average 81.2 points per game.
•    The team has scored more than 80 points in a game four times in five contests this season. It took the team 10 games last season to score at least 80 points four times.
•    Longwood last averaged at least 80 points per game for a full season in 2000-01 when the team averaged 88 points per game behind All-Americans Jason Pryor and Colin Ducharme. The team went 23-8 that season.
•    Beyond free throws, Longwood also forces 18.6 turnovers per game, good for second in the Big South and  nationally.
•    The team's 11.8 steals per game are second in the league, and Longwood has had at least 10 steals in a game four times.
•    Longwood hasn't averaged at least 10 steals per game since the 2008-09 season, when the team averaged exactly 10 steals per game while going 17-14 as an NCAA Division I Independent team.
•    The Lancers also are averaging 15 offensive rebounds per game and have grabbed at least 12 offensive boards per game in all five games this season.
•    The 15 offensive rebounds per game leads the Big South and ranks 42nd in the nation. Both Elijah Tucker and Johan Nziemi are grabbing more than two offensive boards per game.
