THE OPENING TIP
•    Longwood opens up a three-game homestand by hosting James Madison in a Commonwealth clash on Wednesday night.
•    It is a Stripe Out at the Joan Perry Brock Center, presented by College Corners on High.
•    This is the first meeting between the two sides since 2016.
•    The two teams have both won conference titles and earned multiple trips to the NCAA Tournament since that meeting in 2016.
•    James Madison is one of two Commonwealth foes on tap for the Lancers, with Big South rival Radford the other.
•    Johan Nziemi has led the team in scoring in back-to-back games to start the season, with the graduate student putting up 16 points each time.
•    Jacoi Hutchinson has also scored in double figures twice in two games for the Lancers.

LAST TIME OUT
•    Longwood hung around at Pitt in the team's first road game of the season, but a late barrage of threes gave Pitt the 78-60 win.
•    Johan Nziemi was again solid for the Lancers with 16 points, his second straight game in double figures.
•    Jacoi Hutchinson added 13 points as well with a variety of smooth plays around the rim.
•    Alphonzo 'Fats' Billups III chipped in with 11 points while hitting three triples.
•    However, Pitt's guard duo of Damarco Minor and Brandin Cummings combined to go 9-15 from three-point range. Minor led all scorers with 23 points, and Cummings added 19.
•    The Lancers went on a 10-0 run that wrapped around halftime to turn a 33-23 hole into a 33-33 tie, and Nziemi gave them the lead a few minutes later on free throws.
•    However, Minor and Cummings hit timely threes to answer every Longwood flurry.

BY THE NUMBERS
•    The Lancers will play their eighth different Commonwealth foe in the past eight seasons, with six coming in non-conference play.
•    The matchup features two mid-major teams that have gone to the national tournament multiple times in the past four years.
•    It continues a trend of high-profile mid-major matchups for the Lancers, dating back to 2021-22 when the team played Abilene Christian. Longwood has had at least one big-time non-conference mid-major opponent on tap each season since: George Mason and Wichita State (2022-23), St. Bonaventure, Milwaukee and Dayton (2023-24), Milwaukee, UAB and McNeese (2024-25) and James Madison and Columbia this year.
•    Longwood has snared at least 12 offensive rebounds in each of its first two games. The last time the team started the season with double-digit offensive rebounds in back-to-back games was in 2023-24 when the team ripped down 45 offensive boards in two games.
•    Five different players have grabbed multiple offensive rebounds in a game, and two players have done so in both games: Elijah Tucker and Elijah Jones.
•    The Lancers have had at least three players score in double figures in back-to-back games to start the season. Johan Nziemi and Jacoi Hutchinson are the two who have done so in each game.
•    Alphonzo 'Fats' Billups drained three triples at Pitt, the first Lancer to hit at least three triples in a game this season.
•    Longwood has had at least 10 steals in each of its first two games of the season. It was the first time in more than a decade that the Lancers started the season with back-to-back 10-steal games. The team grabbed at least 10 steals nine times in 2024-25.
