FARMVILLE, Va. – The Longwood Lancers (3-9, 1-4 MAC) host Appalachian State (10-3, 4-1 MAC) and travel to Ohio (4-9, 2-3 MAC) this weekend in MAC conference action. 
 
HISTORICAL MATCHUPS: 
  • The Lancers have met Appalachian State 45 times, with Longwood leading the series 33-11-1
  • However, Appalachian State won 2-0 last season in Boone, North Carolina
  • In the series against Ohio, the two teams have played 12 times
  • Ohio leads the series 8-4, with Ohio winning 2-1 last season in a shootout in Farmville 
MATCHING UP AGAINST THE MOUNTAINEERS:
  • Appalachian State is wrapping up a three-game road trip after wins at Central Michigan and Michigan State last weekend
  • The Mountaineers took down No. 18 James Madison University in a 5-4 overtime win and is part of a three-way tie for first in the league with UMass and Miami (Ohio)
  • Two Mountaineers lead the team's offense: Lise Boekaar (10 goals, 18 assists) and Sophia Baxter (10 goals, two assists).
  • Boekarr leads the MAC in points (38) and assists (18)
  • Boekaar has been the MAC Offensive Player of the Week once, and Baxter has MAC Defensive Player of the Week twice this season. 
  • Eleven different players have scored a goal this season, and 12 have at least an assist 
BATTLING THE BOBCATS:
  • Ohio has two main offensive threats in Sasha Dikolta (three goals, one assist) and Anouk Plaeh (three goals, one assist)
  • Emily Risser and Emily Beitzel have both made defensive saves for the team 
  • Ash Stephenson (2-5) has made 34 saves for a 0.586 save percentage so far
  • The Bobcats topped No. 11 UMass earlier this season and are 3-1 at home 
SHOT STOPPER:
  • Sophie Mooldijk (3-9) has been a brick wall in goal for the Lancers with 106 saves this season for a 0.726 save percentage
  • Sophie currently leads the MAC in saves per game average with 8.69 saves per game, and her .726 save percentage is tied for third in the league
  • In NCAA rankings, Mooldijk is sixth in saves per game 
CHANNY TIME:
  • Channy Johnson has been the top offensive threat for Longwood this season and leads the team with six goals
  • Her six goals are tied for 11th in the MAC
  • The junior has two multi goal games, and she has a pair of game winners this season
