FARMVILLE, Va. – Walyn Napper,
Emanuel Richards and
Jesper Granlund earned All-Big South Conference Accolades, the conference office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Napper was named to the All-Big South Second Team while Richards garnered a spot on the All-Big South Freshman Team. Granlund picked up an All-Academic Team not.
Napper keyed Longwood throughout the season, serving as the team's leading scorer at 14.5 points per game and leading passer with 135 assists. He surpassed 1,000 points in his collegiate career in the team's final game of the regular season. In the game, he hit a buzzer beater to power Longwood past High Point as well.
In addition, the Columbia, South Carolina native led Longwood in scoring in six of the team's final eight games as Longwood surged up the standings to finish fifth in the Big South. He scored in double figures 27 times in 31 games, and he scored at least 20 points in a game five times.
Richards, meanwhile, showcased growth through the season on his way to the all-freshman nod. He became a physically imposing defender who earned crunch time minutes down the stretch of the season. He shot better than 40 percent from three in Big South contests, and he often served as a critical primary defender in Longwood's defense. He used his physicality to snare multiple offensive boards in 13 games this season, including seven Big South contests.
Granlund served as glue for a variety of Longwood lineups on the court and a model student off it. He has been a Dean's List selection five times for holding a GPA between 3.5 and 3.99, and he has been named to the President's List twice. A Business Administration Major with a concentration in Finance, Granlund will graduate this coming spring. He has started 119 games in his four years in Farmville.
Longwood will take on fourth-seeded Winthrop on Friday afternoon at the 2024 Hercules Tires Big South Men's Basketball Tournament. Tip is set for 2 p.m. The game will stream on ESPN+ and on the radio on WVHL 92.9 Kickin' Country.
