The First Pitch:
• Longwood is set to take on Norfolk State in their first game of three between the two this season.
• Longwood comes into this week after dropping two of three to Presbyterian over the weekend.
• Longwood will hit the road after Tuesday's game to play a non conference series after this weekend vs. Samford.
• The Lancers beat the Spartans in both games that the teams faced off in last season.

Around The Bases:
• Longwood is set to host Norfolk State Tuesday afternoon in a in state midweek matchup.
• The Lancers look to continue to improve on their win Sunday over Presbyterian. The Blue Hose took the first two games of the series on Friday night.
• The Lancers experience has been a steady piece on both sides of the ball this season.
Noah Campanelli,
Hayden Harris, and
Willie Havens help lead the way for Longwood behind the plate, while
Guillermo Garcia Jr. and
Brenton Fisher start two of the three weekend series games.
• Longwood got down early in game one which saw Presbyterian take a 4-0
• Longwood respond in the bottom of the fourth with two runs of their own on two sacrifice flies courtesy of
Matt Stevenson and
Corbin McCloud
• In the ninth, the Lancers were able to tie the game back up at four thanks to a double by
Casey Gibbs, and a SAC fly by
Blagen Pado.
• Longwood would ultimately drop game one in the 10th inning however, as the Blue Hose scored courtesy of a sac fly. Longwood would strand the tying run in the bottom half on first base.
• In game two Presbyterian was able to keep the Longwood bats off balance. The Blue Hose jumped out to an early lead, and never gave it away.
•
Corbin McCloud would cut into that lead with an RBI double, but unfortunately the Lancers were not able to bring the score any closer than two throughout.
• Game three is where Longwood would take advantage of some Presbyterian miscues.
• The teams would go back, but the theme of the day was great pitching on both sides. The Lancers would trail by one in the bottom of the eighth, but after two wild pitches, they regained the lead.
•
Kevin Warunek would come on in relief in the eighth and ninth and ultimately shut the door on the Blue Hose to help Longwood steal game three.
• The Lancers are still proving that they are not afraid when it comes to being hit by a pitch. They currently sit fourth in the country in HBP at 63
.• Longwood has also proven to be an unselfish bunch at the plate this season as they have the seventh most sacrifice bunts on the season in the country at 24.
• Following this mid week game, Longwood will play a weekend series vs. Samford starting Friday.
