FARMVILLE, Va. — Longwood softball head coach
Dr. Megan Brown announced on Wednesday the the receipt of National Letters of Intent from five high school seniors joining the Lancers next fall.
Set to play for Longwood in the 2026 season are Ava Abromavage, KK Byas, Lauren Faulkner, Jordyn Hern and McKenzie Powell.
"We are excited to welcome, Ava, Jordyn, KK, Lauren and McKenzie to the Longwood softball family," Brown said. "Throughout the recruiting process, these exceptional young ladies showed they have the character and grit that embody the legacy of Longwood softball. They each bring unique qualities to our team and we cannot wait to have them on campus next fall."
Ava Abromavage

South County
Abromavage, a dual-sport athlete, playing three years of softball and one of basketball, with her senior season upcoming, has not batted lower than .377 at South County High School..
As a sophomore in 2023, she was named region player of the year, first team all-district, first team all-state and second team all-met. Ambromavage posted a .512 batting average with seven doubles, six triples, five home runs, 36 RBIs and 26 runs scored that season.
She was named to the all-region and all-district first team and all-met honorable mention as a junior. Abromavage hit .611 with 14 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, 49 RBIs, 19 stolen bases, 47 runs for the Stallions.
In her 2024 travel ball season with EC Bullets-Batchelor, she batted .442 with 22 RBIs in 42 games.
KK Byas

Byas, a right-handed pitcher, has won championships with travel teams Unity Betsa Herbert and Mojo-Ramsey/Fisher.
Lauren Faulkner

Harnett Central
A dual-sport athlete in softball and tennis at Harnett Central High School, Faulkner has earned All-American Conference honors twice in each sport. In softball, Faulkner led the conference in home runs and, as a junior, was named the offensive player of the year.
Faulkner helped the Trojans to a regular-season conference championship as a freshman in 2022 and a conference tournament title as a sophomore in 2023. She also helped Lady Lightning Gold to a runner-up finish in the 2024 Perfect Game Fastpitch National Championship.
Jordyn Hern
5-6 | C/OF
Manassas, Va.
Charles J. Colgan Senior
Hern has played three seasons of softball at Colgan Senior High School, earning first team all-district, region and state honors as a catcher in 2024. She batted .426 with a .473 OPS as a junior after hitting .333 as a sophomore for the Sharks.
Hern's mother, Mari, played softball and field hockey at Longwood, graduating in 1995.
McKenzie Powell
5-6 | INF
Chantilly, Va.
Freedom
A three-time first team all-district and all-region performer at first base, Powell batted .386 and .589 as a sophomore and junior, respectively, for Freedom High School. She also twice earned all-state honors for the Eagles.
