RICHMOND, Va. – If the first meet of the season is any indication, the record books for Longwood Cross Country had better watch out. Both the men's and women's teams had runners charge into the top 10 annals all time at the Spider Alumni Open, and the season has just begun.
Jordyn Dillavou set the school record in the 6K on the men's side, with three of his teammates joining him with top 10 times. On the women's side, freshman
Priscilla Keller finished with the second-best time in school history in the 4K while
Sam Bolen was right behind her with the third best time, and two more runners finished in the top 10 as well.
The women also finished ninth out of 16 teams at a meet that included powerhouses like Virginia, William & Mary and Georgetown. The Lancer women topped James Madison, who finished 10
th, as well as VMI and Hampton among others.
The men finished 10
th out of 14 teams.

RACE NOTES/DETAILS
On the men's side, Dillavou's time of 19:30.5 broke the school record by six seconds, set by Darren Simpson back in 2010 at 19:36.
Benjmin Goulet added his name to the record books with the third time under 20 minutes in team history. He now is fourth in the all-time annals with a 19:59.5.
Clinton Clancy's time of 20:07.4 sits eighth best in the program's history books behind a three-way tie for fifth, and
Saad Khan slots in right behind him in ninth with a 20:19.2.
Alec Daniel's time of 20:34.9 would have qualified in the top 10, but with the other additions, he had the 11
th fastest time in team history.
For the women, a trio of newcomers led the charge, with Keller at the front. Her 15:10.2 was only five seconds off the program record, set by Kristin Novara in 2005 at 15:05.
Sam Bolen wasn't far behind at 15:26.1, and she holds the third-best time in team history.
Haley Slattery slotted into the eighth spot at 15:48.5, and
Caroline Fairbanks tied with both Natalie Auble and
Grace Puleo with her time of 15:53.6 at the ninth spot.
WHAT THEY SAID:
"We knew going in today that the team had a chance to rewrite the 6K and 4K record board, and they executed the plan to a tee," said Longwood Head Coach
Brooke Craig. "This is what setting the standard is all about, furthering the expectations for the program with each race."
