FARMVILLE, Va. --Â Sophomore Jaden Pone was named the Big South Player of the week for a fourth time, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Pone had a fantastic week at the plate for the Lancers where she was batting an outstanding .562 over a 3-1 week. The sophomore added five RBIs and a home run during Longwood's 3-0 sweep against Winthrop this weekend.Â
She had three hits each in games one and two and had two hits in game three. Pone also stole four bases during the Winthrop series, adding to an offense that had 11+ hits in each of their four games this week.Â
Pone's consistency at the top of the order helped the Lancers firmly place themselves in contention for the league's top seed with two weeks to go in the regular season. On the season, Pone leads Longwood and the Big South Conference with a .426 batting average and 58 hits. She is second in the Big South with 26 stolen bases and sits in the top three in triples in the country.
The Lancers are back in action on Wednesday for a matchup against #10 Duke University. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. in Farmville.
