The Opening Tip
•   In its final non-conference game and last matchup of the 2019 calendar year, Longwood heads to George Washington Thursday for a 4 p.m. tipoff in the nation's capital.
•   The game comes after a nine-day break for the Lancers, whose last outing saw them fall in a triple-overtime barn burner 102-99 to The Citadel. That was the longest game in program history.

Last Time Out
•   It took three overtimes to do it, but The Citadel snapped Longwood's five-game home-court win streak by pulling out a 102-99 triple-overtime win in Willett Hall Thursday in the Lancers' final game before the holiday break.Â
•   In the longest game in Longwood program history, The Citadel got 27 points and 10 rebounds from Kaelon Harris to deal the Lancers their first defeat on Jerome Kersey Court since Feb. 23, 2019.
•   Nine players scored in double figures, led by Harris' 27 points, Longwood's
Jaylon Wilson and
Shabooty Phillips' matching 24, and Citadel forward Kaiden Rice's 21.
•   Longwood overcame an 11-point deficit in the second half and a six-point deficit in the first overtime, The Citadel rallied from five points down in the final 2:18 of the second overtime, and the teams traded the lead nine times.Â
•   The Citadel hit 4-of-5 free throws in the final minute to ice the win.

Shabooty Phillips and
Jaylon Wilson have both scored at least 20 points  in back-to-back games and have combined for 46.5 points per game, a .540 (34-of-66) field goal percentage, a .412 three-point percentage (14-of-34, 6.0 assists and a 2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio during that span.Â
•   Following his 24-point, 16-rebound double-double last time out against The Citadel, Phillips has led Longwood in scoring and rebounding in consecutive games.
•   The Lancers went their first 11 games without allowing a 20-point scorer until allowing The Citadel two in a triple-overtime loss on Dec. 19.
•   Longwood is the only team in the Big South to have held every opposing team under 80 points in regulation this season. Lancer opponents have reached 80 points in just 10 of head coach

Griff Aldrich took over the program in 2018-19, Longwood made and attempted the third-most three-pointers in the Big South. The Lancers hit a school-record 333 treys last season and are averaging 8.8 per game this season.

Series History
•   Longwood and George Washington meet for the fifth time in series history and the first time since the 2014-15 season Saturday in Washington, D.C. The Colonials own a 3-1 lead in the series.
•   Three of the series' first four games have been played on George Washington's home turf. The Colonials have won all three of those matchups.
•   Longwood's lone win over George Washington came during the 2008-09 season when the Lancers pulled out an 80-78 win in Farmville. Billy Robinson Jr. converted a three-point play with 54 seconds remaining to put Longwood ahead for good, and the Lancers held on in the final minute for a two-point win.
•   In the last meeting, Longwood's Lotanna Nwogbo led all players with 25 points and 13 rebounds.
