Longwood University Athletics

2020-21: Asserted himself as a scorer in his first season at Longwood, demonstrating an advanced offensive skillset and the ability to put up points in bunches...pairs tremendous length and athleticism to create mismatch problems on the perimeter...a true swingman who can score at all three levels…aggressive in transition and loves to run the floor.

2019-20: Emerged as one of the Big South’s top scoring threats off the bench, averaging 6.2 points per game…finished season as No. 5 bench scorer in the Big South…played all 32 games off the bench while averaging 18.4 minutes…scored in double figures eight times, including a 25-point outburst at Winthrop (Feb. 2)…hit at least three three-pointers four times and multiple treys eight times…began his Longwood tenure by scoring in double figures in four of his first five games, averaging 11.4 points per game in that span…Longwood’s first substitution nine times…hit 35 three-pointers, finishing with more than half of his 69 made field goals from beyond the arc…added 2.8 rebounds per game…poured in 17 points in 25 minutes against UNC Asheville, hitting 7-of-10 shots from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point range (Feb. 13)…one of six players to play in all 32 games…played at least 11 minutes in every game and at least 20 minutes 14 times.
 
2018-19 (South Plains): Helped South Plains reach the semifinals of the 2019 NJCAA National Championship as a true freshman…played in all 32 games and made six starts for a South Plains team that went 28-6…averaged 3.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game…shot .448 (39-of-87) from the floor and .390 (16-of-41) from three-point range…also shot .778 (21-of-27) from the free throw line…scored in double figures twice, doing so during a five-game run in which he started every game and South Plains went 4-1…played in all six games of South Plains’ postseason run and logged at 10+ minutes in four of those, including the semifinal matchup against eventual NJCAA National Champion Vincennes.
 
High School: A 1,500-point scorer at the Pomfret School in Queens…averaged 23.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game as a senior…scored 1,530 career points in his high school career…named All-NEPSAC first team…also team captain and team MVP…a dean’s list selection.
 
Personal: Son of Cleon Wilson and Cathine Gibbs-Darwin…has three siblings, Matt, Chance and Cayden…plans to major in communication studies at Longwood…postgraduate plans include playing basketball professionally and starting his own real estate agency.
