Leading Off
  • Longwood enters the week after being swept at Gardner-Webb. The sweep and five-game losing streak are both firsts for the Lancers this season.

  • Longwood outhit Gardner-Webb 35-29 over the weekend, but was held to just seven runs in the three games and was swept by the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Scouting N.C. Central
  • Longwood and NC Central complete their home-and-home series when they meet Tuesday. Longwood won at NC Central, 5-3, in the first meeting at Durham Athletic Park. NC Central swept Longwood in two games last season.
  • NC Central enters the midweek game off a split series at UNC-Wilmington Friday and games in Durham, N.C., Saturday and Sunday. The Eagles took the second game of the series, 8-6, behind a four-run second inning and three-run third.
  • N.C. Central boasts five .300 hitters in the lineup and is hitting .309 as a team.
  • Ellington Hopkins has been limited to just 16 games, but had a team-high .414 batting average when he was taken out of action.
  • Corey Joyce is tied for the team lead with four homers and leads the team with 32 RBI. Carter Williams is hitting .391 and has a team-high 12 doubles.
