ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville's women's tennis squad swept Longwood 7-0 in the Big South opener Saturday afternoon at the Asheville Racquet club.
The Bulldogs (3-1, 1-0 Big South) won their third straight home match on the strength of an early doubles point and sweeps at all six singles spots.
Asheville freshman Hannah Francisco led the charge, defeating Longwood ace and freshman counterpart
Fallon Burger, 6-4, 6-1, in singles after pairing with Kylee Shipley to defeat Burger and freshman
Isis Gill 6-4 in doubles play.
The loss drops Longwood's record to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in Big South play. The Lancers, who have played four straight road matches to start the spring, return to Farmville Wednesday to host Mary Washington at 3:30 p.m. in the home opener.
