NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Longwood women's tennis team opened the season well against Washington & Lee, Christopher Newport and Hampton at the 2026 CNU Mock Dual Invite on Saturday and Sunday on the Eyre Courts.
The Lancers collected 17 singles victories across the two days, with six players earning multiple wins.
Feline van Eijkelenburg went 3-0 in singles, opening with a 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) victory over Washington & Lee's Allie Murrell before defeating Christopher Newport's Anna Bong 6-2, 6-2 and Hampton's Samira Khazieva 7-5, 6-2.
Hima Fernando also posted a perfect 3-0 singles record. Fernando defeated Washington & Lee's Margarette Berdy 6-3, 6-2, Christopher Newport's Kylie Schaefer 6-1, 6-1 and Hampton's Toffee Ghorab 6-3, 6-0.
Asta Miettinen went 3-0 as well, beating Washington & Lee's Susanna Whitehead 6-2, 6-0 andChristopher Newport's Lindsey Bergelin 6-1, 6-4. She led Hampton's Melis Sakiroglu 6-4, 1-0 when Sakiroglu retired in the second set.
Alexandra Magia recorded three singles wins, defeating Washington & Lee's Greer Webb 6-3, 6-1, Christopher Newport's Emma Carver 6-4, 6-2 and earning a default victory against Hampton.
Asem Shoybek also went undefeated against Hampton and Washington and Lee, defeating Sarah Ladd 7-5, 6-1 and Tanya Midzi 5-7, 6-4, 10-4. Shoybek fell to Christopher Newport's Kendal Chang 6-2, retiring after the first set.
Farah Asaad split her singles matches, defeating Hampton's Brielle Brade 6-0, 6-0 after falling to Washington & Lee's Mary Kate Kahl 6-2, 6-2.
Maddie Fowler and Genevieve Dickey each added singles victories against Christopher Newport. Fowler defeated Nathalie Lanne 6-4, 7-6 (3), while Dickey beat Samantha Robertson 6-2.
Longwood also won four of its five doubles matches against Washington & Lee. Shoybek and Miettinen defeated Murrell and Kahl 7-5, while van Eijkelenburg and Magia posted a 6-1 win over Greer Webb and Berdy. Fernando and Asaad swept Lulu Koziol and Manavi Bedi 6-0 and Fowler and Dickey defeated Ladd and Whitehead 6-4.
Against Hampton, Asaad and Fernando earned a default victory, while Shoybek and Miettinen fell 6-4 to Midzi and Ghorab. Magia and van Eijkelenburg lost 7-5 to Masa Mitic and Khazieva.
Longwood returns to the court Oct. 2-3 at the App State Hidden Dual.
