CHARLESTON, S.C. – A three-hour rain delay did little to derail the undefeated Charleston Southern women's tennis team, as the Big South-leading Buccaneers took down Longwood, 6-0, Saturday afternoon at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.
 
Longwood (6-8, 1-3 Big South) became the latest victim of a Charleston Southern team that has now won seven consecutive matches and has not lost to a conference opponent in the regular season since the 2012-13 season.
 
Saturday's match was suspended for three hours due to rain before play resumed with the singles rounds. Charleston Southern won at all six spots, including a two-set derailment of Longwood's all-time Division I wins leader, Malin Allgurin at No. 1. The loss, a 6-0, 6-0 defeat the hands of Marketa Placha, kept Allgurin eight victories shy of tying former Longwood great Laura Veazey's all-time mark of 64.
 
Longwood redshirt senior Nicole Parker also suffered only her second loss in her past seven matches, falling 6-2, 7-5 against Valeria Koussenkova at the No. 6 slot, while Lancer wins leader Mason Thomas fell to 9-5 following a 6-2, 6-1 loss to Sophie Cloessner.
 
Doubles play began after singles concluded, but those three bouts were called midway due to rain.
 
Longwood will have a chance to get back on track Sunday when the Lancers head up the east coast to take on Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C., at 1 p.m.
