FARMVILLE, Va. --
Longwood University will welcome Radford University for a Big South Conference North Division men's basketball game on Wednesday night, February 19 at 7 p.m. at Willett Hall in Farmville.  The contest between the Lancers (8-19, 3-9 Big South) and the visiting Highlanders (17-10, 7-5 Big South) can be viewed exclusively on the Big South Network, and can also be heard locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM or via the Internet at wvhl.net.

It will be a LancerStrong game with all Longwood student-athletes being required to attend the contest in support of their fellow Lancers.  It's also 2013 Longwood Scholar Athlete Night with 126 student-athletes, cheerleaders and athletic training students being recognized at halftime for their academic achievements.  Scholar Athletes are individuals who have earned a 3.0 GPA (grade point average) over the previous two semesters (fall/spring).  In addition, All-Academic Team recognition will be presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA on his/her team/program; students must have sophomore class standing and are eligible to receive the award once during his/her career.

The Game
Longwood (8-19, 3-9) continues its first season of the Jayson Gee Era on Wednesday at 7 p.m., as the Lancers host Big South Conference North Division and in-state opponent Radford (17-10, 7-5).  The Highlanders defeated Longwood by a score of 93-76 last month on January 18 in Radford, leading from start to finish, though just 43-38 at halftime before outscoring the Lancers 50-38 in the second half.  Tristan Carey led Longwood with a game-high 27 points, including 5-9 three-point field goals.  Ya Ya Anderson led Radford with 19 points, while Javonte Green added 17 points and a game-high 19 rebounds.

The Series
Longwood and Radford are meeting for the 20th time in the sport since 1976-77, but only for the sixth time since 1983-84, and just the fourth time as Division I programs (1-2).  The Highlanders lead the overall series against the Lancers, 14-5, including a perfect 10-0 record at home in Radford, while Longwood is 5-4 in Willett Hall against RU.  The Lancers won last season (Feb. 16, 2013) at home against the Highlanders, 76-61.

The Highlanders
Radford is 17-10 overall, 7-5 in the Big South, including a 72-65 home loss to High Point on February 15.  Mike Jones is in his third year as head coach of the Highlanders.  RU is expected to start juniors Javonte Green (16.7 points, 8.0 rebounds) and R.J. Price (12.2 points, 54 3FGs), sophomore Ya Ya Anderson (11.3 points, 59 3FGs), redshirt-sophomore Brandon Holcomb (5.6 points, 5.2 rebounds) and junior Kyle Noreen (4.4 points).  Sophomore Rashun Davis (10.3 points, 3.1 assists) plays off the bench.  The Highlanders shoot 48% (735-1549) from the field, including 35% (158-452) on three-pointers and 70% (450-647) at the free throw line.
