BOONE, N.C. -- Freshman
Robert Willis/Ashburn ran a season-best 8K time of 26:40 to lead the Longwood University men's cross country team to a 19th-place finish among 28 teams with 540 points on Friday afternoon at the Blue Ridge Open hosted by Appalachian State University at the State Farm Fields in Boone, North Carolina. Appalachian State won the 'Gold' race with its 102 points, while unattached runner Sandy Roberts was the individual winner with his time of 24:19. Longwood will race in the Big South Championship hosted by VMI at the Vista Links Golf Course on November 2 at 10:30 a.m. in Buena Vista.

Willis finished 106th overall among the 229 runners, and was followed by freshman
Johnny Leder/Amelia (26:52, 119th), juniors
Russell Reed/Onemo (26:54, 120th) and
Nick Reed/Fairfax (26:56, 124th), sophomore
Seth Taylor/Chesapeake (27:44, 165th), along with freshmen
Mark Sohl/Burke (27:58, 173rd) and
Shea Pennington/Richmond (28:20, 181st).
