FARMVILLE, Va. -- The Longwood University softball team is safe and sound this morning in Hawaii in regard to the Tsunami waves that have hit the pacific islands, as announced by Director of Athletics
Troy Austin. The Lancers are in Hawaii to participate in the Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament this weekend, March 11-13, hosted by the University of Hawaii. According to Austin, who has been in communication this morning with 14th-year head coach
Kathy Riley, the Longwood team was evacuated to a designated shelter on the Island of Oahu overnight but was expecting to be released later today. According to the
UH website, all sports and other evening events are still on as the Lancers (12-3) are scheduled to play the 14th-ranked Rainbow Wahine (16-4) Friday night at 11 p.m. ET.
