PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Longwood University swept a baseball doubleheader on the road at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tuesday in Princess Anne, Maryland. The Lancers (4-5) came from behind in both games to defeat the Hawks (1-8) by scores of 5-3 in game one and 3-1 in game two -- that needed an extra eighth inning. LU was led at the plate by freshmen
Matt Dickason|Chesapeake (Indian River) with three hits and two RBI, including the game-winning hit in the opener, and sophomore
Justin Lacy|Glen Allen (J.R. Tucker) with the game-winning hit in the nightcap, while junior captain
Mark Montgomery|Williamsburg (Bruton) earned pitching saves in each game. Longwood remains on the road to play at fellow Independent North Carolina Central University on Wednesday, March 2, at the Durham Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina beginning at 3 p.m.

Scott Burkett|Williamsburg (Jamestown) (1-2) reached on a walk to lead-off and later scored on a sacrifice fly from junior
Robby Newman|Virginia Beach (Salem) (0-2, rbi). The Lancers completed the comeback with three runs in the seventh with freshman
Alex Owens|Purcellville (Loudoun Valley) (1-1, rbi) providing a clutch pinch-hit RBI single to tie the game at 3-3 before Dickason (3-4, 2 rbi) had the game-winner on a two-out, two-run single.
Sophomore
Kyler Morgan|Lancaster, Pa. (Lampeter-Strasburg) (1-0) was credited with the Longwood pitching win in relief, allowing no hits, no runs, and no walks with one strikeout over two-thirds of an inning. Montgomery tossed the final scoreless inning for the save, yielding a hit with two strikeouts and no walks. Freshman
Cory Ramsey|Petersburg (Matoaca) started for the Lancers and went the first 5.1 innings, scattering nine hits and three runs, one earned, with six strikeouts and one walk.

Sims stole second base on another strikeout before Lacy (1-4, rbi) provided his game-winner, a one-out run scoring single, while Dickason (1-3, rbi) plated Lacy with an RBI single as well.
Senior
Troy Dickman|Manakin Sabot (Midlothian) (1-0) picked up the Longwood pitching win with 2.0 innings of shutout relief, allowing two hits with two strikeouts and no walks. Montgomery earned his third save, and second of the day, with two strikeouts and no walks during a perfect final inning. Morgan started for the Lancers and went the first 5.0 innings, yielding just two hits and one run, unearned, with two strikeouts and two walks.
