RESULTS
NEW MARKET, Va. -- Longwood University men's cross country posted 103 points to finish fourth among six teams Saturday morning at the JMU Open Cross Country Invitational near Harrisonburg at the New Market Battlefield. George Mason University took first place with 16 points, while the Lancers were led by junior
Darren Simpson|Crewe (FUMA) with his time of 26:01 over the 7900 meter course for seventh-place individually in the field of 43. Longwood will compete again on September 25 at the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge hosted by the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg.
Following Simpson for Longwood were sophomore
Sean Flynn|Goodview (Roanoke Catholic) (26:39, 18th), along with juniors
Robert Webb|Williamsburg (Lafayette) (28:06, 27th),
Alex Strittmater|Haymarket (Battlefield) (29:23, 32nd), and
Justin Cooke|Chesterfield (Manchester) (29:34, 33rd). Also running was freshman
Kyle Moller|Gainesville (Battlefield) (29:41, 34th).
Following George Mason in the team results were Navy (46), Radford (102), Longwood, Howard (121), and Mountain State (176).
