CARY, N.C. - The Longwood University women's tennis team picked up a pair of wins on Friday afternoon in Cary, North Carolina, defeating North Carolina Central University 5-2 and NCAA Division II member Mount Olive College 5-0. The Lancers (9-6) return to action on Tuesday, April 6, when they host Radford University at 3 p.m..

In singles action against NCCU, freshman Marta Pinyol/Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) won at #3 (6-4, 6-4), senior Mason Davis/Richmond (Collegiate School) was victorious at #4 (6-0, 6-0), freshman Allison Shulman/Richmond (Deep Run) won at #5 (6-0, 6-1) and freshman Hannah Hill/Portsmouth (Western Branch) was victorious at #6 (6-2, 6-0). Junior Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) lost at #1 (1-6, 2-6) and senior Laura Simon/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) fell at #2 (0-6, 0-1, retired).

In doubles competition, Davis and Shulman won at #2 (8-6) and Hill and Simon were victorious at #3 (8-2) while Jakab and Pinyol lost at #1 (4-8).

Against Mount Olive, Jakab won at #1 (6-1, 6-2), Pinyol was victorious at #2 (6-0, 6-1), Davis won at #3 (6-1, 6-0) and Hill won at #5 (6-2, 6-0). Shulman was unfinished at #4 (6-1, 4-1 DNF) and junior Nasim Moadab/Colonial Heights (Colonial Heights) was unfinished at #6 (6-4, 1-0 DNF).
