Brant Jones/Richmond (Monacan) with four hits, four runs, and an RBI, while junior
Chris Briere/Midlothian (James River) pitched seven-plus strong innings for the mound win. Longwood and the Purple Eagles (1-7) will complete the four-game weekend series with another twinbill on Sunday at Bolding Stadium beginning at 12 p.m..
In game one, Longwood scored a run in the first inning, added two more runs in the third, three runs in the fifth, and two runs in the sixth to lead 8-0. Niagara finally scored a run in the seventh, adding two runs in the eighth before the Lancers plated two more runs in the eighth as well for the final seven-run margin. In the first, senior

Casey Havers/Thorofare, N.J. (West Deptford) (2-5, RBI) and Newman who had singled and walked, respectively. In the sixth, sophomore
Matt Gwaltney/Chesterfield (Matoaca)?(1-2) pinch-hit and singled to lead-off and scored on an RBI double to center by Jones, and Jones crossed the plate on Cerreto's RBI single. In the eighth, Bailey walked with one out, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch, and scored on another sacrifice fly by Cerreto. Havers added an RBI double down the right field line that scored Jones who had walked as well.
Briere (1-0) earned the pitching win with the first 7.0-plus innings, scattering six hits and three runs, one earned, with five strikeouts and two walks.
Matt Wietlispach (2-4) and Stephen Smith (1-4, RBI) led Niagara at the plate, while Marcus Spaulding (0-3) took the mound loss with the first 6.0 innings, yielding 12 hits and eight runs, all earned, with three strikeouts and two walks.

Sims would score on an RBI single through the left side by Bailey (1-3, RBI) after Sollars (0-0) had pinch-hit and reached on a wild pitch while striking out. Sollars scored on an RBI single by Cerreto (2-4, RBI), and Bailey scored the final run on a sacrifice fly from Gwaltney (0-0, RBI) who was pinch-hitting again.
Trevor Rutkowski (2-4, 3 RBI) led the Purple Eagles at the plate, while Daniel Morari (1-2) started and earned the mound win with the first 6.0-plus innings, allowing eight hits and five runs, all earned, with six strikeouts and one walk.
