BOONE, N.C. - The Longwood University women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision at Appalachian State University on Friday afternoon in Boone, North Carolina. The Lancers lost the doubles point 2-1 and split the singles points 3-3. Longwood falls to 3-3 while Appalachian State improves to 6-3. The Lancers return to action on Saturday, March 6, when the face Lees-McRae College at 11 a.m. in Banner Elk, N.C..

In singles action, freshman Marta Pinyol/Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) won at #3 (6-1, 6-1), senior Mason Davis/Richmond (Collegiate School) was victorious at #4 (3-6, 6-2, 6-2) and freshman Allison Shulman/Richmond (Deep Run) won at #5 (6-1, 1-6, 6-1). Junior Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) fell at #1 (4-6, 1-6), senior Laura Simon/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) lost at #2 (0-6, 2-6) and freshman Hannah Hill/Portsmouth (Western Branch) fell at #6 (2-6, 3-6).

In doubles action, Davis and Hill won at #3 (8-6) while Jakab and Shulman lost at #1 (4-8) and Simon and Pinlyol fell at #2 (6-8).
