FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University women's tennis team defeated Liberty University 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon on Lancer Courts in Farmville. The Lancers (7-6) claimed the doubles point and the #3-6 singles. Longwood returns to action on Friday, April 2, when it travels to Cary, North Carolina, to take on Mount Olive College and North Carolina Central.

In singles action, freshman Marta Pinyol/Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) won at #3 (6-2, 4-6, 10-8), senior Mason Davis/Richmond (Collegiate School) was victorious at #4 (6-1, 6-0) and freshman Allison Shulman/Richmond (Deep Run) won at #5 (6-3, 6-1). Freshman Hannah Hill/Portsmouth (Western Branch) won by default at #6. Junior Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) fell at #1 (4-6, 0-6) and senior Laura Simon/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) lost at #2 (0-6, 1-6).

In doubles competition, Davis and Simon won at #2 (8-5) while Hill and Shulman won by default at #3. Jakab and Pinyol fell at #1 (3-8).
