FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University women's tennis team defeated NCAA Division III member Averett University 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon on Lancer Courts in Farmville. The Lancers (6-4) return to action on Sunday, March 21, when they travel to Harrisonburg to take on James Madison University at 1:30 p.m..

In singles action, junior Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) won at #1 (6-1, 6-0), freshman Marta Pinyol/Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) was victorious at #2 (6-0, 6-0) and freshman Hannah Hill/Portsmouth (Western Branch) won at #3 (6-0, 6-0). Senior Laura Simon/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera), senior Mason Davis/Richmond (Collegiate School) and freshman Allison Shulman/Richmond (Deep Run) all won by default.

In doubles competition, Davis and Shulman won at #1 (8-0). Jakab/Pinyol and Simon/Hill won by default in the other doubles.
