FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University women's tennis team defeated Virginia State University 7-0 on a sunny Tuesday afternoon on Lancer Courts in Farmville. The Lancers (2-1) won all six singles and all three doubles matches. Longwood returns to action on Saturday, February 27, when it hosts North Carolina A&T at 12 p.m. in Farmville.

In singles competition, senior Laura Simon/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) won at #1 (6-0, 6-0), junior Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) was victorious at #2 (6-0, 6-1), freshman Marta Pinyol/Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) won at #3 (6-0, 6-1), senior Mason Davis/Richmond (Collegiate School) claimed victory at #4 (6-1, 6-2), freshman Allison Shulman/Richmond (Deep Run) was victorious at #5 (6-0, 6-0) and freshman Hannah Hill/Portsmouth (Western Branch) won at #6 (6-0, 6-0).

The Lancers swept all three doubles matches, with Jakab and Shulman winning at #1 (8-3), Pinyol and Simon claiming #2 (8-0) and Davis and Hill winning at #3 (8-0).
