CARY, N.C. -- Longwood University men's cross country posted 124 points to finish fifth among 12 teams Friday at the Great America Cross Country Festival ran at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. Duke University took first place with 26 points, led by individual winner Dominick Robinson (24:43), while the Lancers were led by junior
Darren Simpson|Crewe (FUMA) with his time of 26:40 over the 8000 meter course for 14th-place individually in the field of 96. Longwood will compete again on October 15 at the Panorama Farms Invitational hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Following Simpson for Longwood were sophomore
Sean Flynn|Goodview (Roanoke Catholic) (27:01, 18th), along with juniors
Robert Webb|Williamsburg (Lafayette)?(27:26, 25th),
Alex Strittmater|Haymarket (Battlefield) (28:07, 37th), and
Justin Cooke|Chesterfield (Manchester) (28:17, 42nd). Also running was freshman
Kyle Moller|Gainesville (Battlefield) (29:10, 57th).
Following Duke in the team results among the top five were UNC?Pembroke (74), Guilford (87), The Citadel (91), and LU.
