EDINBURG, Texas - Longwood University fell in its final women's tennis match at the National Independent Tournament, losing to Chicago State University 4-1 in Edinburg, Texas on Sunday afternoon. The Lancers finished the season at 5-12 while Chicago State posted a 14-3 record on the year. Junior Laura Simon/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) earned All-Tournament honors after going 2-0 with two matches unfinished. Chicago State claimed the team championship.

The Lancers won one of the singles' flights. Junior Mason Davis/Richmond (Collegiate) won at #4 (6-1, 4-0, retired). Freshman Jackie Esguerra/Sauk City, Wis. (Prairie du Sac High) fell at #3 (3-6, retired), senior Ashley Melson/Virginia Beach (Kellam) lost at #5 (4-6, 3-6) and sophomore Nasim Moadab/Colonial Heights (Colonial Heights) fell at #6 (0-6, 2-6). Simon did not finish at #1 (1-6, 3-4, unfinished) and sophomore Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) was unfinished at #2 (4-6, 1-3, unfinished).

Longwood dropped the doubles' point as well. Davis and Melson fell at #2 (2-8) and Esguerra and Moadab lost at #3. Jakab and Simon did not finish at #1 (1-6, unfinished).
