At VMI, Longwood scored a run in both the first and second innings, adding two more runs in the third, five runs in the fifth, and two additional runs in the eighth.  The host Keydets scored one run in the third, two runs in the fifth, and five runs in the seventh.  The Lancers took an early 1-0 in the first inning as junior Phil Cerreto/Midlothian (Midlothian) (1-4) reached on a two-out single, stole second base, and scored on a two-out RBI single by classmate Casey Havers/Thorofare, N.J. Longwood broke the game open in the fifth as junior Scott Kimble/Spotsylvania (Spotsylvania) (1-4) opened with a single, moved to second when sophomore Brant Jones/Richmond (Monacan) (2-4, 2 RBI) was hit-by-a-pitch, stole third base, and later scored on a passed ball.  Cerreto followed with a walk, and Havers was hit-by-a-pitch as well before Quigley blasted his second homer of the game, this one a grand slam to left field for his team-leading seventh home run this season.  The seven home runs equal his previous career total prior to this season as he now has 14 career home runs.  In the eighth, Jones added a two-run home run to left field for the Lancers -- his fourth homer this year.

Sophomore Troy Dickman/Midlothian (Midlothian) (3-1) earned the mound win for the Lancers, scattering 13 hits and seven earned runs with four walks and six strikeouts over the first 7.0 innings.  Senior Paul Heidler II/Warrenton (Notre Dame Academy) (1) gained his first save for the Lancers [2.0-ip, 2-h, 0-r, 0-bb, 3-k].
