BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. -- Longwood University split a baseball doubleheader at Gardner-Webb University of the Big South Conference Sunday in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, winning the nightcap 8-4 after dropping the opener 10-9. Senior
Jonathan Quigley/Annandale (W.T. Woodson) led the Lancers (15-9) during the two games with six hits and six RBI. Longwood will play again this Wednesday, April 1, hosting Radford University of the Big South Conference as well at Lancer Stadium in Farmville beginning at 3 p.m.. Admission is free to all Longwood baseball games at Lancer Stadium.

Paul Heidler II/Warrenton (Notre Dame Academy) (3-1) earned the pitching win for the Lancers with the first 6.0 innings, allowing just three hits along with three earned runs with two walks and three strikeouts. Freshman right-hander
Mark Montgomery/Williamsburg (Bruton) pitched the final 1.0 scoreless inning, yielding no hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
In the first game, Longwood led 6-1 after three innings with a run in both the first and second innings, four runs in the third, while adding three more runs in the fourth to lead 9-1 before the Bulldogs rallied for the win with one run in the third and nine runs in the fourth inning. Quigley (4-4, 3 RBI) led the Lancers with four hits and three RBI, including his team-leading fifth home run this spring on a solo shot to center field in the second.
