WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Longwood University women's tennis team fell to Georgetown University 7-0 on Friday afternoon in Washington. Longwood falls to 2-6 on the season while Georgetown improves to 3-11. The Lancers return to the court on Saturday, March 28, in Towson, Md. where they will face Towson University at 1 p.m.
The Lancers were swept in the singles flights, with junior
Laura Simon/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) falling at #1 (4-6, 6-7 (5)), sophomore
Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) losing at #2 (1-6, 6-7 (6)), freshman
Jackie Esguerra/Sauk City, Wis. (Prairie du Sac High) falling at #3 (3-6, 1-6), senior
Ashley Melson/Virginia Beach (Kellam) losing at #4 (3-6, 1-6), sophomore
Nasim Moadab/Colonial Heights (Colonial Heights) falling at #5 (1-6, 1-6) and senior
Eileen Sullivan/Toano (Nansemond Suffolk Academy) losing at #6 (3-6, 2-6).
Longwood dropped all three doubles flights as well. Simon and Melson fell at #1 (7-8 (7-2)), Jakab and Esguerra lost at #2 (3-8) and Sullivan and Moadab fell at #3 (0-8).
