Longwood Falls To James Madison 6-1

FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University women's tennis team fell to James Madison University 6-1 on Saturday in Farmville. Longwood falls to 1-5 on the season while JMU improves to 6-6. Junior Laura Simon Espinalt/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) claimed the #2 singles (7-5, 6-4) for the Lancers. Longwood returns to action tomorrow (Sunday) when it travels to Greensboro, N.C., to take on North Carolina A&T at 1 p.m.

In singles action, sophomore  Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) fell at #1 (0-6, 5-7), freshman Jackie Esguerra/Sauk City, Wis. (Prairie du Sac High) lost at #3 (0-6, 2-6), senior Ashley Melson/Virginia Beach, Va. (Kellam) fell at #4 (3-6, 1-6), sophomore Nasim Moadab/Colonial Heights, Va. (Colonial Heights) lost at #5 (2-6, 0-6) and senior Eileen Sullivan/Toano, Va. (Nansemond Suffolk Academy) fell at #6 (0-6, 0-6).

Melson and Espinalt won the #2 doubles (9-7). Esguerra and Jakab fell at #1 (4-8) and Sullivan and Moadab lost at #3 (0-8).
