CAVALIER OPEN RESULTS (PDF)
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University men's cross country runners competed at the Cavalier Open hosted by the University of Virginia Friday evening at the Panorama Farms near Charlottesville. There was no team scoring at the event as Tom Burke from the College of William and Mary won the individual 8K race with his time of 24:52. The Lancers were led by freshman
Darren Simpson/Crewe (FUMA) with his collegiate-best time of 27:16 to place 18th among the 36 runners. Longwood will compete again November 15 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals to be hosted by Princeton University in New Jersey.
At UVA, Simpson was followed by fellow first-year classmates
Robert Webb/Williamsburg (Lafayette) (27:24, 21st),
Justin Cooke/Chesterfield (Manchester) (27:57, 25th),
Alex Strittmater/Haymarket (Battlefield) (28:16, 27th), and
Forrest Williams/Chesapeake (Hickory) (28:41, 28th), as well as sophomore Dave Jeffers/Virginia Beach (Ocean Lakes) (31:23, 35th). Webb also ran a new collegiate-best time for the 8K distance.
