COMPLETE RESULTS
BOONE, N.C. -- Longwood University men's cross country totaled 525 points to finish 18th among 26 teams Friday at the Blue Ridge Open hosted by Appalachian State University at the Kennedy Trails in Boone, North Carolina. The University of North Carolina won the event with its 43 points, while Queens (N.C.) University's Michael Crouch won the individual 8K race with his time of 24:19. The Lancers will not compete again until November 15 when they travel for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals to be hosted by Princeton University in New Jersey.
In North Carolina, Longwood was led by by senior
Evan Kearney/Richmond (Douglas Freeman) with his time of 26:59 to place 101st among the 210 runners. Kearney was followed by freshman
Darren Simpson/Crewe (FUMA) (27:24, 123rd), junior
Ross Roberts/Powhatan (Powhatan) (27:34, 134th), along with freshmen
Robert Webb/Williamsburg (Lafayette) (27:43, 142nd) and
Justin Cooke/Chesterfield (Manchester) (27:48, 147th). Also running for the Lancers were freshmen
Forrest Williams/Chesapeake (Hickory) (28:01, 156th) and
Alex Strittmater/Haymarket (Battlefield) (29:00, 190th). Roberts, Webb, and Williams each ran new season-best times for the 8K, while Simpson matched his season-best for the distance.
