Men's cross country sophomore Leon Beard ran a career-best 5K at the Three Stripe Invite to help the Lancers edge North Carolina in the team standings. The 5-8, 130-pound native of Chesterfield, Va., clocked a 16:29.10 at the WakeMed Cross Country Course to placed 25th overall in the 45-runner field. His top-30 finish was one of three for the Lancers, who finished second ahead of North Carolina by one point in the team standings.

The Three Stripe Invite is the final tune-up for Longwood cross country before this Friday's NCAA Regional in Charlottesville, Va.
