Dr. Chad Knowles, a 1994 graduate of Longwood, currently serves as the Chair of the Lancer Club Advisory Board. A Physical Education major while at Longwood, he also participated on the wrestling team. Chad has played an integral role in the planning and execution of the Longwood Athletics Benefit Celebration, a signature event for Longwood athletics, which will take place again this fall in Richmond on Saturday, October 17th. What stands out about your experience as a student at Longwood? Being in education, I have found the network of Longwood alumni to be a tremendous resource.
You have supported Longwood athletics in a variety of ways, not the least of which is serving as chair of the Lancer Club Advisory Board. Why is it important to you to support Longwood Athletics with your time and annual gifts?I thoroughly enjoyed my experience as a student-athlete at Longwood University and have been fortunate to meet and interact with the quality individuals that the Longwood athletics program is currently attracting and producing. All the positive contributions that these student-athletes bring to the table only makes for an even stronger Longwood University.
You regularly support the Longwood Athletics Benefit Celebration as a Table Sponsor. What would you tell someone about the LABC who has not attended before?If you have not been a part of this event you have cheated yourself out of one heck of a good time. Make sure you register early and attend this event in October. You don't want to miss one of the most action-packed, fun-filled and exciting nights on the Longwood calendar. And bring some friends!
What words of encouragement or advice would you offer to Longwood's current student-athletes?Enjoy every moment that you have as a Longwood student-athlete. You will often look back and realize this period is one of the most rewarding times in your life. Make sure to take advantage of all the great opportunities that Longwood offers. You have an opportunity to be a part of a unique and awesome organization and you get to interact with some of the most caring and dynamic people you will ever meet. Make the most of it!
