Justina Augustine checked back in with LongwoodLancers.com, as the Longwood softball team was able to explore the island of Oahu Thursday, before opening tournament play on Friday. After practice Thursday morning, the Lancers were able to visit Pearl Harbor, spend some time at Waikiki Beach and even had some time to shop.

By Justina Augustine Thursday morning! February 26th Aloha kakahiaka! (Good morning in Hawaii) Off we went bright and early to practice for the first time in Hawaii at the University! Two hours of sweat and hard work quickly

swept away our jet lag, leaving us ready to play our two games the next day!
After grabbing a bite to eat we made our way to the memorial at Pearl Harbor, where we embraced and honored the lives lost that day. We actually got the opportunity to visit the USS Arizona Memorial and learned a great deal about our history leading up to that day!
Next stop, the beautiful Waikiki Beach! Used to the snow and cold weather from Virginia, we spent every moment soaking up the sun and enjoying the ocean and its waves! We also got some time to shop around town and grab some souvenirs and Hawaiian merchandise!
We finally dragged ourselves away from the beautiful shore and made our way to the University to watch Hawaii play against California! Once the game was over we headed back into town and enjoyed a nice dinner together at PF Changs! Drained and tired from a long exciting day, we made our way back to our home and fell asleep, ready to play our first two games!
Friday, February 27th We awakened with the beautiful sunrise Friday morning and we ate breakfast together at the house and then headed to the field ready to start the first of our two tournaments!

We played California first and then played San Jose State! We fell to both teams, though both games were close! Together, we enjoyed a nice homemade spaghetti meal at our home! We learned a lot from the games today and are ready to head back out and play Hawaii at 3:30 pm.
