SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Longwood women's cross country team turned in a fifth-place finish against a strong nine-team field at the Eye Opener at the Roger Milliken Center, placing five runners inside the top 43.
NOTABLE RESULTS:
Junior
Sophie Farley finished 10th in the 100-runner field with her time of 18:01.90 to lead the Lancers. She helped Longwood post an average time of 19:16.11 among its five scoring runners, with all five breaking 20 minutes.
Sophomore
Sydney O'Hara-Wood was the team's second finisher, placing 24th with a time of 19:09.99.
Freshman
Alexa Bergesen crossed the finish line 38th at 19:37.67, followed closely by junior
Kirsten Morley, who finished 39th at 19:40.39.
Junior
Madison Davis rounded out Longwood's scoring five with a 43rd-place finish in 19:50.58.
Senior
Priscilla Keller finished just outside the scoring five in 45th at 19:52.20, while classmate
Sam Bolen placed 51st in 20:00.61. Freshmen

"We knew today was going to be tough because of the heat but we prepared for it and planned accordingly. Focus today was to pack run and be in control until the end of the race. They executed the plan well and came away with top 5 team finish. Our new additions to the team have really helped increase the depth in our top 10."
