ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Longwood baseball took an early lead against No. 5 Radford deep into the night on Wednesday in an elimination game at the Big South Tournament, but the game was suspended due to weather.
Â
The Lancers lead 5-0 in the top of the second inning, and the game will resume from that point on Thursday morning at 9:05 a.m. Longwood, the sixth seed, jumped out to a five-run first inning behind back-to-back home runs from Tré Keels and
Brogan Jones. Jones raced around the bases for an inside-the-park homer to cap the scoring in the frame.
Â
The game then entered a weather delay after the first inning was complete before returning to the field to start the second inning. However, rain continued to get heavier, and the game was suspended with play to resume on Thursday morning.
Â
The winner will advance to play on Thursday night while the loser is eliminated from the Big South Tournament.
