First Pitch

•   Longwood wraps up a four-game homestand with a three-game homestand against UNC Asheville, the first of back-to-back weekends at home in Big South play.
•   The Lancers are 130th in the nation in RPI, one of six teams in the Big South in the top 150 nationally.
•   Longwood is 13-3 at home, with the team's three losses by a combined four runs (and one in extra innings).
•   The Lancers are tied for fifth in the Big South standings, with the top six teams in the league advancing to the Big South Tournament.
•   UNC Asheville is one game back of Longwood and Radford and half a game behind Gardner-Webb in the standings.

Last Series

•   Longwood fell 6-4 in 10 innings to VCU on Tuesday in a midweek matchup on Tuesday at Buddy Bolding Stadium.
•   VCU plated four runs in the early stages of the game, but Longwood's lineup battled back.
•   The Lancers cut the lead to 4-1 on a Jayson Nash RBI poke that had some help from the sun in the fourth, and Jack McMullan and Max Lawson knotted the score at four with back-to-back RBI base knocks in the sixth.
•   However, VCU scratched across two runs in the 10th inning to nudge ahead of the Lancers.
•   Longwood brought the tying run to the plate, but VCU turned a double play to end it.

•   Longwood leads the Big South in ERA at 4.24, a mark that is 37th in the nation.
•   The Lancer pitching staff has done so by limiting walks to 3.24 per nine innings, which also leads the Big South and ranks 10th nationally.
•   Longwood has had two games this season where the pitching staff did not surrender a walk, and the team has had five more games with only one walk allowed, including the first matchup against VCU on March 31, although the team is 3-4 in such contests.
•   Longwood also ranks atop the Big South in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 2.66, a mark that is 23rd nationally.

•   Freshman Ben Pulliam is tied for first in the Big South with 13 doubles, which ranks is tied for 25th nationally.
